Company Account
A Company account serves as the central hub for your business within the Orbitvu ecosystem. It holds essential information such as the company name, tax identification, and invoice data. All ORBITVU services (e.g., Subscription plans), products (e.g., hardware devices), and licenses are assigned to the Company account, rather than to an individual user.
Orbitvu Station Seats & Additional Users
The Orbitvu subscription model distinguishes between software access rights (Seats) and individual account identities (Users). This separation allows for flexible resource management and cost optimization within an organization.
Terminology
- Orbitvu Station Seat: A license unit that serves three purposes:
- Orbitvu Station access: Grants access to the latest release of Orbitvu Station that can be used with or without device connected.
- Concurrency Limit: It determines how many instances of Orbitvu Station can be used simultaneously across the organization.
- User Quota Foundation: Each Seat provides a base entitlement for a specific number of User accounts, depending on the subscription plan.
- User: A unique identity with individual login credentials. A User can access Orbitvu SUN for content management and, subject to Seat availability, operate Orbitvu Station.
- Additional User: A standalone account extension that increases the total number of allowed Users in a Company account without adding a new Orbitvu Station Seat. These are typically used for team members who work on shifts with single Orbitvu device or only require access to Orbitvu SUN (e.g., for content management in Orbitvu SUN).
The total capacity of your team is determined by the number of purchased Seats and any "Additional User" add-ons.
User-to-Seat Ratios & Limits
Operational Use Cases
| Subscription plan | Users included per seat | User Limit Calculation |
|---|---|---|
| Pro | 1 User | Total Users = (Number of Seats × 1) + Additional Users |
| Business | 3 Users | Total Users = (Number of Seats × 3) + Additional Users |
If a company has 2 Orbitvu Station Seats, they can have up to 6 Users in the system. If they need a 7th person (e.g., a manager who doesn't use the hardware), they can purchase an Additional User without needing to buy a full 3rd Seat.
Example (Business Plan):
- Concurrent Production: Multiple Orbitvu Station Seats allow several photographers to work at the same time on different workstations.
- Shift-based Work: In the Business plan, the 3-to-1 ratio allows morning, afternoon, and evening shift operators to have their own unique accounts while sharing a single Orbitvu Station Seat.
- Administrative & Cloud Tasks: Additional Users can manage presentations, configure integrations, or handle billing in Orbitvu SUN without occupying a software Seat needed for production.
Seat Lifecycle Management
Claiming Orbitvu Station Seat
A Seat is automatically claimed the moment a User logs into Orbitvu Station. The system checks the Company account for an available Seat. If one is free, the session starts.
Releasing a Seat
- Application Exit: Closing Orbitvu Station or logging out automatically releases the Orbitvu Station Seat back to the organization's pool.
- Administrator Override: Within the Orbitvu Cloud dashboard, a Company Administrator can view the list of currently occupied Seats and manually Release a Seat if a workstation was left active unintentionally. This allows another team member to claim the access.
Roles and the Account Owner
Each User is assigned a specific role (e.g., Admin, Manager, Editor) that defines their permissions within the Company account. Users bound to the same company can view each other's presentations and share Orbittour templates or presentation tags, depending on their role.
The first user created on the Company account is designated as the Account Owner. The owner is permanently associated with the account and, for security reasons, cannot change their own email address (please contact support if a change is required).
Note on the Legacy Model: In the previous licensing model, company accounts often had an unlimited number of users, and the focus was primarily on hosting services. In the new model, the number of users is managed through Seats to ensure better scaling of cloud resources and software access.
