Updated on

This section covers the management of physical Orbitvu hardware, warranty status, and the rules governing software access and licensing.

Expand or collapse content My Devices & Warranty

Every Orbitvu device owned by the organization is registered under the Company Account.

Device identification

Users can view a list of all registered hardware, including model names and serial numbers.

Warranty status

The dashboard provides real-time information regarding the warranty period for each device.

Warranty extension

If a device is eligible, an Extra Warranty can be purchased through the Orbitvu Marketplace. Note that warranty extensions are typically available only if the current warranty has not yet expired and the maximum total warranty period for the device has not been reached.

Expand or collapse content The Perpetual Fallback License

The Perpetual Fallback License is a core safety feature of the Orbitvu ecosystem. It ensures that customers always retain access to their hardware, regardless of their current subscription status.

Definition

It is a non-expiring license to use a specific version of Orbitvu Station that was available at the time of the device purchase or at the end of a continuous paid subscription period. It is possible to use Orbitvu Station with the Perpetual fallback license in offline mode.

Free plan access

When an account is on the Free Plan, the user is restricted to the Perpetual Fallback Version of the software.

Fallback version date

This date determines which software release the user is entitled to. If a Business plan subscription is maintained continuously, the fallback date may be updated, allowing access to newer versions.

Expand or collapse content Software Access & Downloads

Access to software installers is managed via the Orbitvu Cloud portal

Latest version

Users with an active Pro or Business subscription are entitled to download and use the latest release of Orbitvu Station, including all new features, bug fixes, and improvements.

Legacy/Fallback Downloads

Users on the Free Plan or those with expired subscriptions can download the specific legacy version covered by their Perpetual Fallback License.

Operating System Compatibility

Software downloads are provided for supported versions of Windows and macOS as specified in the technical requirements for each release.

Expand or collapse content Offline Mode (Business Plan Only)

For organizations operating in high-security environments or locations with unstable internet connectivity, the Business plan offers an Offline Mode.

Functionality

Unlike the Pro and Free plans, which require periodic online license validation, Offline Mode allows Orbitvu Station to operate for extended periods without an active internet connection.

Prerequisites for Activation

To activate an offline license, the hardware device must first be "linked" to the Company Account:

  • Linking Process: The hardware device must be physically connected to a workstation where a User logs into Orbitvu Station while online at least once. This registration step permanently associates the specific hardware ID with the organization’s account in Orbitvu Cloud.

Activation methods

Once a device is linked, Offline Mode can be enabled via one of two methods:

  1. Manual Key Import: The Administrator generates an offline activation key through the Orbitvu Cloud dashboard. This key is then manually transferred and imported into Orbitvu Station on the target workstation.
  2. Initial Online Validation: The workstation is temporarily connected to the internet to perform the initial license handshake, after which the internet connection can be severed.

Operational Rules & Seat Allocation

  • Permanent Seat Reservation: An active Offline License permanently occupies one Orbitvu Station Seat from the organization's total pool. This Seat remains unavailable for other Users until the offline license is deactivated and released back to the Cloud.
  • License Validity & Renewal: Offline licenses are time-limited and remain valid only until the end of the current subscription billing period.
  • Expiration: Upon the expiration of the subscription term (or the license key duration), a new activation key must be generated in the Cloud and applied to the workstation to ensure continued operation.

Limitations

While in Offline Mode, certain cloud-dependent features (such as direct upload to Orbitvu SUN or real-time AI credit consumption) may be unavailable due to lack of the Internet connection.
